Jesus Knows Your Voice

Life doesn’t always go the way we hope.We try to do what’s right, but things can still be difficult.People might misunderstand us.Plans might fall apart.We might feel tired or left out.La vida no siempre sale como esperamos.Intentamos hacer lo correcto, pero las cosas todavía pueden ser difíciles.Las personas pueden malinterpretarnos.Los planes pueden fallar.Podemos sentirnos cansados o excluidos.
In the first reading, Paul and Barnabas knew that feeling.They traveled, preached, and helped others—but some people rejected them.Still, they didn’t give up.They stayed faithful because they believed Jesus was with them.En la primera lectura, Pablo y Bernabé conocían ese sentimiento.Viajaron, predicaron y ayudaron a otros—pero algunas personas los rechazaron.Aun así, no se rindieron.Se mantuvieron fieles porque creían que Jesús estaba con ellos. Jesus Knows Your Voice

Jesús Conoce Tu Voz 05-011-25

Sometimes it’s hard to know where we belong.A veces es difícil saber dónde pertenecemos.
In today’s Gospel, Jesus says something beautiful:“My sheep hear my voice. I know them, and they follow me.”En el Evangelio de hoy, Jesús dice algo hermoso:“Mis ovejas escuchan mi voz. Yo las conozco, y ellas me siguen.”
That means He knows your voice.He knows your name.He knows your heart.Eso significa que Él conoce tu voz.Conoce tu nombre.Conoce tu corazón.
You are not a stranger to Him.No eres un extraño para Él.
Even when life feels noisy, confusing, or lonely—Jesus never loses track of you.Aunque la vida se sienta ruidosa, confusa o solitaria—Jesús nunca te pierde de vista.
He is the Good Shepherd.He doesn’t just watch from a distance.He walks with us, protects us, and leads us home.Él es el Buen Pastor.No nos observa desde lejos.Camina con nosotros, nos protege y nos guía a casa.

Jesus Still Comes to Breakfast

Jesús Todavía Viene al Desayuno 05-04-25

Sometimes we forget how ordinary the apostles were.A veces se nos olvida lo comunes que eran los apóstoles.
They didn’t always know what to do. They got tired, confused, and sometimes scared.No siempre sabían qué hacer. Se cansaban, se confundían, y a veces tenían miedo.
In today’s Gospel, Peter decides to go fishing—not because he’s excited, but maybe because he doesn’t know what else to do.En el Evangelio de hoy, Pedro decide ir a pescar—no porque esté emocionado, sino tal vez porque no sabe qué más hacer.
Jesus had risen from the dead… but now what?Jesús había resucitado de entre los muertos… ¿pero ahora qué?
Peter goes back to something familiar.Pedro regresa a lo conocido.
And his friends go with him.Y sus amigos lo acompañan.
They fish all night—and catch nothing.Pescan toda la noche—y no atrapan nada.
Not one fish.Ni un solo pez.
But at sunrise, someone appears on the shore.Pero al amanecer, alguien aparece en la orilla.
He calls out gently: “Children, have you caught anything to eat?”Les llama con ternura: “Hijos, ¿han pescado algo para comer?”
It’s Jesus.Es Jesús.
But they don’t recognize Him right away. Not until the nets are full again.Pero no lo reconocen de inmediato. No hasta que las redes se llenan otra vez.

And then, Peter jumps into the water—not to fish, not to escape—but to reach Jesus faster.Y entonces, Pedro salta al agua—no para pescar, ni para huir—sino para llegar a Jesús más rápido.
Jesus has already prepared breakfast. Fish and bread on a fire.Jesús ya ha preparado el desayuno. Pescado y pan sobre el fuego.

That’s the kind of God we have.Ese es el tipo de Dios que tenemos.
He doesn’t wait for us to be perfect.No espera a que seamos perfectos.
He comes to us when we’re tired.Viene a nosotros cuando estamos cansados.
He shows up on ordinary mornings and fills empty nets.Se presenta en las mañanas comunes y llena las redes vacías.
He feeds us when we’re hungry—especially in our hearts.Nos alimenta cuando tenemos hambre—especialmente en el corazón.
In the first reading, Peter and the other apostles are told to stop talking about Jesus.En la primera lectura, Pedro y los otros apóstoles reciben la orden de dejar de hablar de Jesús.
But they don’t stop. They say, “We must obey God rather than men.”Pero no se detienen. Dicen: “Es necesario obedecer a Dios antes que a los hombres.”

So what can we learn today as a family?

Jesus is full of mercy, which means He always gives us another chance. He forgives us when we make mistakes and wants us to share that same mercy with others. Even when we can’t see Him, we know He is with us.

Jesus Appears and Shares His Mercy
Summary:On the evening of Easter, Jesus appears to His disciples who are afraid and hiding. He gives them peace and breathes the Holy Spirit on them. Thomas wasn’t there and doubts, but Jesus returns a week later just for him. Thomas sees and believes.
Teaching Points:
• Jesus brings peace, not punishment, even when we doubt or are afraid. • Divine Mercy means Jesus always gives us another chance. • Faith sometimes begins with questions — and Jesus gently helps us grow.
Discussion Questions:

Healing Through Faith
Summary:The apostles healed many people, and crowds came from all around. People believed so much that they hoped Peter’s shadow might touch them! Jesus’ power worked through His followers.

• Jesus heals through love, prayer, and faith. • We are called to bring hope and help to others. • Faith grows when we care for one another.

Summary:“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! His mercy endures forever!” This psalm reminds us that God saves us and never stops loving us.

Do Not Be Afraid — Jesus is Alive Forever!
Summary:John sees a vision of Jesus in heaven. Jesus tells him, “Do not be afraid. I am the one who lives forever.” He reminds John (and us) that He holds the keys to life and death.
Teaching Points:
• Jesus is alive and with us always. • We don’t have to be afraid — He gives us courage. • Jesus holds our future in His loving hands.
Discussion Questions:

Activity: “Keys of Life” CraftGive each child a paper key. On it, write a word like hope, peace, mercy, courage. Decorate the keys and hang them on a string as a reminder: Jesus holds the keys!

Activity: “Strong with God” ShieldHave children make a paper shield and decorate it with symbols or words of courage, trust, and God’s help. Remind them that God protects and strengthens us when we follow Him.
Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 22:8–9, 17–18, 19–20, 23–24
God Is With Us in Suffering
Summary:This psalm begins with a cry of sadness—“My God, why have you abandoned me?”—but ends in praise. Jesus prayed this psalm on the cross. It shows us that we can bring all our feelings to God.
Teaching Points:• It’s okay to be honest with God when we’re sad or scared.• God doesn’t leave us—He listens and stays close.• Even in pain, we can trust in His love.
Discussion Questions:
1. Have you ever prayed when you were sad? 2. What words help you feel close to God when you’re hurting? 3. How can you praise God even when you’re having a hard day?
Activity: “Prayer Hands”Trace children’s hands on paper. On one hand, write a prayer of sadness or struggle. On the other, a prayer of praise or thanks. Fold them together like praying hands as a reminder that God hears both.
Second Reading: Philippians 2:6–11
Jesus Chose to Serve
Summary:Jesus is God, but He chose to serve and to suffer for our sake. Because of His great love and obedience, God raised Him up so everyone would honor His name.
Teaching Points:• Jesus shows us that greatness comes through humility and love.• God honors hearts that serve others.• We are called to follow Jesus by loving and serving too.
Discussion Questions:
1. What does it mean that Jesus “humbled Himself”? 2. How can you serve someone this week like Jesus did? 3. Why do you think God loves when we put others first?
Activity: “Heart of a Servant”Have each child draw a large heart. Inside, write or draw one act of service they will do this week—at home, school, or church. Post the hearts on a wall or board labeled “We Serve Like Jesus.”

Jesus Gives Everything
Summary:This long Gospel tells the story of the Last Supper, Jesus’ betrayal, His suffering, and death on the Cross. Through it all, Jesus remains loving, faithful, and forgiving—showing us the depth of His love.
Teaching Points:• Jesus suffered out of love—for each of us.• Even when others were cruel, Jesus forgave.• Holy Week is our time to stay near the Cross, not look away.
Discussion Questions:
1. What part of Jesus’ Passion story stood out to you? 2. How does it make you feel to know Jesus gave everything for you? 3. What can you do this week to stay close to Jesus?
Activity: “Journey to the Cross” MapCreate a simple Holy Week map: from Palm Sunday to Good Friday. Draw symbols for each day (palm, bread, cross, etc.). Each day, talk about what happened and how we can respond with love and faith.
Bringing It All Together
🌿 Jesus is welcomed with praise, but chooses the Cross out of love.💜 We can trust God even in hard times—He is with us in joy and sorrow.✝️ Jesus serves, suffers, and forgives—and invites us to follow Him.❤️ Lent leads us to the Cross—but also to the hope of Easter.
Encourage your students to walk with Jesus this Holy Week—with open hearts, brave faith, and loving actions. Even the youngest disciples can understand the love that stays, serves, and saves.

God Is Doing Something NewSummary:God reminds His people of the great miracles He’s already done—like making a path through the sea. But He also tells them to stop looking back. He’s doing something new—bringing life to the wilderness and hope to the dry places.
Teaching Points:• God works in the past, but He’s also working right now—in new ways.• Sometimes we need to stop clinging to the “old” so we can see what God is doing today.• God can bring good things even from hard places.

Activity: “Press On Path”Create a simple path on paper with stepping stones. On each stone, write something that helps us follow Jesus—like prayer, kindness, or forgiveness. Invite kids to decorate and reflect on their next step.

Mercy, Not StonesSummary:People bring a woman who made a mistake to Jesus, expecting Him to punish her. Instead, He reminds them of their own faults and shows her compassion. He forgives her and gives her a fresh start.
Teaching Points:• Jesus never shames us—He forgives and helps us change.• We’re all in need of mercy—no one is perfect.• Lent is a time to receive and give forgiveness.
Discussion Questions:
1. What does it feel like to be forgiven? 2. Why do you think Jesus didn’t throw stones? 3. Who is someone you can forgive this week?
Activity: “Mercy Stones”Give each child a smooth stone. Have them write “forgive” or a heart on it. Encourage them to carry it this week as a reminder to show mercy to others—and themselves.
