A PRAYER FOR PEACE ON DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY

  • Heavenly Father,
  • on this Divine Mercy Sunday,
  • we come before You as we are
  • not with perfect faith, but with open hearts
  • longing for peace in a world that often feels restless and wounded.

  • Lord Jesus Christ, risen and alive,
  • You entered a room filled with fear
  • and spoke words that changed everything:
  • “Peace be with you.”
  • Speak those same words now into our hearts.
  • Into our worries.
  • Into the quiet burdens we carry.
  • Into the places where we feel unsettled or afraid.

  • Today we join our prayer with the Holy Father,
  • with the Church throughout the world,
  • and with all who long for peace but do not know where to find it.
  • Touch the hearts of those who choose violence.
  • Break the cycles of hatred that seem unending.
  • Give leaders the wisdom to seek peace
  • and the courage to choose it.

  • Be near, Lord, to those who live with the daily weight of war
  • to families who wake up uncertain of what the day will bring,
  • to the wounded, the grieving, the displaced, the forgotten.
  • Hold them in Your mercy.
  • Let them feel that they are not alone.

  • Watch over those who serve in the armed forces.
  • Protect them, guide them,
  • and bring them safely home.

  • And Lord, we ask not only for peace in distant places,
  • but for peace close to home
  • in our families,
  • in our conversations,
  • in the quiet tensions we carry within.
  • Where there is resentment, teach us forgiveness.
  • Where there is distance, help us take the first step back toward one another.

  • In this Jubilee Year, inspired by Saint Francis,
  • make us instruments of Your peace
  • not in grand moments,
  • but in small, daily choices
  • to be patient, to listen, to love.

  • Divine Mercy, flowing from Your wounded heart,
  • heal what is broken in us.
  • Because we know that peace in the world begins
  • with hearts that have been touched by Your mercy.

  • Holy Spirit, breathe gently upon us.
  • Calm what is restless.
  • Strengthen what is weak.
  • And help us trust that even when the world feels uncertain,
  • Your presence is real,
  • Your mercy is active,
  • and Your peace is possible.

  • We entrust to You all who suffer, all who hope, all who wait.
  • And we open our hearts to You, Lord,
  • because You are the One who makes all things new.

  • Amen.
